An Unexpected Encounter

An unexpected encounter!
A Samaritan woman, we do not even know her name, as was her custom she came to the well for water, but, that day she received more than just water. She had an encounter with Jesus! Just her and Jesus!
He asked her for a drink.
He approaches her first…I wonder if she would have talked to Him had He not.
Her response was “how is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman.” :9
I think she was curious as to who, this man is that, is speaking to her, when Jews did not associate with Samaritans.
His answer to her was “If you knew
the gift of God and who it is who says to you, ‘give Me a drink, you would have
asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” :10
He talks to
her about living water. She is thinking
she needs that water so she will not be thirsty anymore and have to draw from
the well for her water.
Jesus goes
deeper than just water from the well.
She needs salvation in Him.
He is fully acquainted
with her lifestyle and proceeds to tell her so.
How does He know all about her?
She is well
aware that the Messiah is coming, the One called Christ, who will tell them all
things. Could this possibly be Him?
His response “I who speak to you am He.” :26
His disciples
returned. She left her water jar and went to the city to tell the people what had happened to her. Interesting that she did not bring her water jar back with her full of water.
From that city many of the
Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He
told me all the things that I have done.” So when the Samaritans came to Jesus,
they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. Many more
believed because of His word; and they were saying to the woman, “It is no
longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for
ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.” vs: 39-42
For your husband is your Maker,
Whose name is the Lord of hosts;
And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel,
Who is called the God of all the earth. Is. 54:5
Are you seeking something that cannot be filled and you are constantly looking and seeking to fill that thirst inside of you? Seek the One who can fulfill all of you to overflowing in His love, mercy and grace.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. II Cor. 13:14
