Obedience of Faith {Genesis 12:1-14:24}
2:36 AM
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
“I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.[a]
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.” - Genesis 12:1-3
Abraham's faith was so evident when he left Ur of the Chaldees.
Think about this, and how would you have reacted in his place... God was asking him to leave Ur, an impressive, sophisticated and one of the most advanced towns in its time to go to live in a tent for the rest of his life.
I believe not many of us would want to leave a very comfortable city to live in a tent up in the mountains where it's cold and snows in winter, specially at the age of 75! But Abraham learnt to trust God to lead him one step at a time! talk about faith! He trusted God when He told him "Trust Me with this first step, because it is best for you to go where I lead you" and Abraham simply obeyed... no questions asked.
When God gave Abraham this instruction, He only gave him "step one", not "step two"...Abraham would not get to "step two" until he had accomplished the first one...this may seem simply but it is so profound: God gives us direction one step at a time, it depends on us and our obedience how far we want to go.
If you're like me this is particularly tough... we like to have a "whole view" a "whole plan of action", we want to understand steps two, three, four and five, but it is only HIS WAY how our faith will grow because you will realize there always sure footing beneath each step God instructs you to take.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11
Believe God has a good plan for your life when you obey. Don't miss out on the blessings by not obeying what He's clearly telling you to do. Sometimes He may be gracious enough to take you; carry you half way down the path and, some other times you may need to walk... Either way, He's promised to never leave you nor forsake you.
He wants you to trust Him like Abraham, He wants you to take the first step He calls you to take in faith. At the end, if you're willing to have Abraham's kind of obedience, you can have Abraham's kind of blessing too!
Be encouraged today!,
Till next time sisters,
love,
Angie
