A Psalm Of Adoration (Psalm 138)

The Psalms are songs of praise and adoration. David
had a close relationship with God and I believe a big part of that was because
David knew how to magnify God. When we look through a magnifying glass we see
things closer, bigger, and in more detail. David saw the grand scale of who God
was in all of His majesty and at the same time the grand scale of God’s
boundless love toward man. If we want to know God we must learn to see Him with
wonder, awe and adoration.
As A. W Tozer said,
"We must never rest until everything inside us worships
God."
Expressing Adoration for God is:
-A Whole Heart Experience-
“I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods
I sing your praise;”
-An Expression of Gratitude-
“I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name
for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,”
-A Recognition of God’s Supremacy-
"for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.”
-A Dependence and Trust-
“On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you
increased.”
-A Humble Submission-
“For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly, but the
haughty he knows from afar.”
-A Pursuit of Victory-
“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life;
you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand
delivers me. “
-A Perspective of Purpose-
“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love,
O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.”
When you view God, just what do you see? How intimately do you
know Him? To know Him is to love Him and to be aware of just how much He loves
you! The more you magnify and praise Him, the more your awe and adoration will
increase. You will come to seek and appreciate Him from the depths of your
heart....a heart that beats because of Him and for Him.
