WOMEN OF THE OLD TESTAMENT- THE SHUNAMMITE WOMAN- (2 KINGS 418-37, 2 KINGS ‭8:4-5)

A PRAYER IN THE LIGHT OF HER STORY

“My heart rejoices in You Lord, for You have blessed me and my family abundantly and over the years You also gave me the opportunity to witness to our king, of Your Loving-kindness and Your Wondrous works in our lives through Your Prophet Elisha!

I can vividly remember how we first met Elisha and how through him, You touched our lives in such a special way! My husband and I were old and had not conceived a child, but we loved and served You with all our hearts. When you blessed us with the promise of our child I was so surprised I had not realized I still had this deep yearning in my heart; but You knew this! Later when our child grew and suddenly became ill and died, I now understand that: only You gave me the courage and the certainty that I should find Elisha and trust that “ALL would be fine”, that You would restore my son back to life! You had a Perfect Plan and Purpose in all this! How can I be silent and keep all these blessings to myself?

I will give You thanks with all my heart;
I sing praises to You before the [pagan] gods.
I will bow down [in worship] toward Your holy temple
And give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth;
For You have magnified Your word together with Your name.
On the day I called, You answered me;
And You made me bold and confident with [renewed] strength in my life.

All the kings of the land will give thanks and praise You, O Lord,When they have heard o

the promises of Your mouth [which were fulfilled].
Yes, they will sing of the ways of the Lord [joyfully celebrating His wonderful acts],
For great is the glory and majesty of the Lord.
Though the Lord is exalted, He regards the lowly [and invites them into His fellowship];
But the proud and haughty He knows from a distance.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me.
The Lord will accomplish that which concerns me; Your [unwavering] lovingkindness, O Lord, endures forever—Do not abandon the works of Your own hands.”  (Psalm 138)

Amen!

Ephesians 1-2

"But for God and His Goodness" {Ephesians 2}

12:00 AM

Scripture Reading ~ Ephesians 2

"You were dead in the trespasses and sins  in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—  among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— Eph 2:1-5

Those two words, But God, represent a huge contrast!
  • "We were dead in our trespasses and sins,"
  • We were "following the course of this world,"
  • Following "the prince of the power of the air,"
  • Following "the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience"
  • "Among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh,"
  • "Carrying out the desires of the body and the mind,"
  • "And were by nature children of wrath,
  • Just "like the rest of mankind"
BUT GOD,
being RICH in MERCY, because of HIS GREAT LOVE with which HE LOVED US, even when we were dead in our trespasses, MADE US ALIVE together with Christ! - Ephesians 2:1-5

Did you catch that?

What roll did you play? And what roll did God play?

The truth is, it was all God! 100% Him, for we were dead! And He made us alive! Some might argue how could we possibly be dead when we've been living and breathing on this earth for years! I once wondered the same, and I did a bit of research and discovered there are actually three types of deaths mentioned in God's Word. AND that death is better defined as separated.

__The First death is a physical death, and the one we most often think of, when our spirit separates itself from our body. We go on, but our body remains lifeless.
__ The Second death is the one mentioned here in this chapter in Ephesians, where we are walking this earth in the flesh separated from God.
__ The Third death was the one God mentions to Adam and Eve when He told them  that if they ate of the fruit of The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil they would surely die. He was speaking of an eternal death; an eternal separation from God. This third death is the one all will face one day if they don't accept God's gift of life now in this lifetime.

So, we were all once dead- separated from God in our sins... BUT GOD, being RICH in MERCY, because of HIS GREAT LOVE with which HE LOVED US, even when we were dead in our trespasses, MADE US ALIVE together with Christ!
Just imagine for a moment what this life would be like if God suddenly ceased His redemption process among us, and closed the gates of heaven.

Praise God He is rich in mercy and loves us beyond anything our finite mind can fathom! Not only did He reach down to claim us as His, but He is building His church; human stone upon stone, with the Cornerstone of our faith being our Lord, Jesus Christ.

We are an eclectic group for sure and no where is it more evident than on Women in the Word's FB page! We've come from all parts of this world; each different ages and from diverse backgrounds but unified in our love for our Lord, Jesus Christ and our desire to grow our faith through His Word and fellowship!

Paul is telling us here in chapter 2 that regardless of our sin origin, we all share a common destination with each of us having become an altogether new creation by His grace. (Eph 2:8-9) It's evident He has brought us together, because His Spirit abides within and among us, but He isn't finished yet! (v.10) His church is not complete! He is building us together because He has a purpose for all of us and we would do well to be about our Father's business until He calls us all home for that great banquet in the sky!

Blessings,

sue

2Timothy 2:11-13

Our God, Always Faithful- Ruth 1

12:00 AM

Today’s reading Ruth 1:1-22

Today as we read Ruth, I am reminded of myself as a young woman who had experienced very difficult circumstances but had a “glimpse” of faith that God would turn my whole little world around!

Although Naomi, Ruth’s mother-in-law was feeling bitter and distressed for all she had gone through,  Ruth had not set her eyes on her, but on Naomi’s God, because she had heard: “…about how the Lord had taken care of His people [of Judah] in giving them food.” (1:6)
So Naomi was coming back to her people in Israel, and since both her daughters-in-law were widows, she thought they should go back to their families in Moab.

16 But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people will be my people, and your God, my God. 17 Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord do the same to me [as He has done to you], and more also, if anything but death separates me from you.” 18 When Naomi saw that Ruth was determined to go with her, she said nothing more.” (1:16-18)

Ruth also wanted of these good things from Naomi’s God. She wanted the Lord to be her God, too!  Ruth had little knowledge of the true God, the God of Israel - but she knew He was a God of fairness and justice. By faith she abandoned her country, her family and her gods to follow Naomi and her God. And let me tell you she was blessed beyond her imagination!

It’s been 35 years since I surrendered my life to Jesus, and let me tell you I have experienced His Faithfulness in my life, my marriage, my children and their families! He is an awesome God, and I can tell you my faith and my family’s faith has been set under fire many, many times; BUT I have discovered we have not dealt with them alone, AND of course, we have also been granted with so many answered prayers and wonderful miracles! He has remained Faithful !! (You can also read here)

Looking back to this first act of surrender I realize:

10 For this reason I [am ready to] patiently endure all things for the sake of those who are the elect (God’s chosen ones), so that they too may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it the reward of eternal glory. 11 This is a faithful and trustworthy saying:
“If we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, He will also deny us;
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful [true to His word and His righteous character], for He cannot deny Himself.” (2Timothy 2:11-13)

“Worshipping God involves sacrifice, but he “gives his riches to all who ask for them” (Romans 10:12) God honored Ruth’s faith by blessing her new life in Israel and giving her a place in the lineage of Jesus (Matthew 1:5). How has God blessed you since you put your faith in Him?” (iWorship Bible),

But I have trusted and relied on and been confident in Your lovingkindness and faithfulness;
My heart shall rejoice and delight in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me.” (Psalm 13:5-6)

Amen and Amen!!

God's Faithful Deliverance ( Daniel 6 )

2:26 AM

The book of Daniel tells of an amazing story of God’s faithfulness and omnipotent intervention. In chapter 6, we have the well known story of Daniel and the Lion’s Den. What an amazing faith was shown by Daniel to trust in God enough to risk such a grueling death. How, you may wonder, could Daniel have such courage and trust? Daniel could trust such circumstances to God because he had seen and relied on the faithfulness of God many times before.

In the early chapters of Daniel we see that he was chosen out of the Israelites for a privileged position to be taught the language and knowledge of the Chaldeans and to be suitable to stand before the king. Daniel showed incredible determination from the beginning to honor God even in the midst of a people who did not serve God.  He convinced the eunuch in charge of his care to let him eat a diet approved by God even though the eunuch faced harsh punishment or even death if Daniel’s health suffered because of it. . “Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.” (1:9). Already we see God at work to take care of Daniel. “As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.” (1:17) God equipped Daniel with the resources he needed to do well in his unique position of influence.

Daniel’s life was threatened when King Nebuchadnezzar decided to have all of his scholars killed when his advisors couldn’t tell him about a dream he had. Daniel sought God for knowledge and God revealed not only what the king had dreamed but also the interpretation. And Daniel knew that God had been faithful and saved his life and the lives of all the scholars.
“He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.” (2:22-23)

Daniel then got to see God save his fellow Israelites. This is another well known story. “Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.” (2:49) When these 3 men refused to worship the king’s idol they were thrown into a fiery furnace that was so hot it killed the men attending it. But, miraculously these 3 men were not consumed by the fire.

Daniel continued to interpret other dreams and even the mysterious “writing on the wall” that appeared when King Belshazzar disrespected God by drinking from the Holy vessels taken out of God’s temple. Belshazzar died and his kingdom was divided by the Medes and Persians. God gave Daniel great favor with King Darius of the Medes but it also caused Daniel to become a target of scandal and manipulation. “Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.” (6:3)

To get rid of Daniel the princes talked Darius into signing a decree to have any person who petitioned a god or anyone other than the king for 30 days to be thrown into a den of hungry lions. Daniel, knowing whom his complete trust was in, did not comply with the decree. He boldly, and in plain sight continued in his prayers to God. “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.” (6:10)

Of course, the King who cared about Daniel tried all he could to reverse the decree but legally could not. Interestingly, he also gives bold declaration about the power and faithfulness  of Daniel’s God. “Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.”(6:16). Wow! God’s faithfulness to Daniel made a believer out of Darius even before he saw with his own eyes the following morning that Daniel was untouched by the ravenous lions.

As God shows his faithfulness to us, our trust becomes increasingly strengthened.  The same God that performed all of these amazing feats in the book of Daniel wants to empower your life too. Sometimes, it may seem that we find ourselves in difficult circumstances where we have to choose if we will honor God or cower to the demands and pressures of others. It helps to be reminded of how faithful God was throughout the Bible to those who put their trust in him. I challenge you to look for God’s faithfulness in the midst of your own circumstances as well.

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”(Hebrews 10:23 )

Abraham

"Too Wonderful" Request {Genesis 18:1-15, 21:1-7}

12:00 AM

March 13, Scripture Reading: Genesis 18:1-15, 21:1-7

Is there something you’ve been seeking God for? You believe you’ve received a promise from Him, yet you’re still waiting… and waiting… and…? Have you ever felt like giving up on God? Maybe you didn’t hear Him correctly. Maybe you did something that messed up the plans!

Abraham and Sarah understand what you’re going through. They waited twenty-five for God to fulfill His promise to them, even after trying to help Him out a bit by having a son by Hagar, Sarah’s maidservant. (Gensis 16)

Even when God comes again and confirms that Sarah will indeed bear a child a year from then, Sarah truly doesn’t believe Him,

Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in years; it had ceased to be with Sarah as with [young] women. [She was past the age of childbearing].Therefore Sarah laughed to herself, saying, After I have become aged shall I have pleasure and delight, my lord (husband), being old also?
And the Lord asked Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I really bear a child when I am so old? Is anything too hard or too difficult for the Lord? At the appointed time, when the season [for her delivery] comes around, I will return to you and Sarah shall have borne a son.
Then Sarah denied it, saying, I did not laugh; for she was afraid. And He said, No, but you did laugh. –Genesis 18:11-15 (emphasis mine)

A few years ago my husband and I were teaching through the Book of Genesis in our Life Group class on Sunday mornings, and when we came to this passage, we learned that the same word for hard or difficult can also be translated, wonderful or marvelous. Certainly Sarah conceiving and bearing a son at any age would have been so very wonderful for her and Abraham.

That year, as we were teaching this chapter, The Lord had us ask the class to share their “Too Wonderful” requests; those requests that went beyond their wildest dreams and greatest longing and seemed impossible to hope for apart from the Lord’s omnipotent power. He also had me keep them listed at the bottom of our weekly prayer request sheet so that we could pray for them continually and remember them.

Some asked for their prodigals to return, some for loved ones to come to a saving faith in The Lord. One couple asked that she would somehow be able to quit her job to be able to stay home and raise their daughter full time.

In everyone’s mind that seemed to mean that her husband either needed a better job or a raise, right? It made sense to all of us!

That was until the wife of another couple had a dream just a week later and when she woke she told her husband about it and he agreed, and then told the couple with the daughter.

John and Mary, who had the dream, were getting set to change careers and move back to where they grew up. They planned to build their dream home on the farm that John would one day inherit. In the dream they were led to sell their current home to the couple with the daughter for only the amount of their current mortgage. This home also happened to be the couple with the daughter’s dream home! It was everything they could have hoped for and the price of the mortgage would cause them to see their “too wonderful” request fulfilled as well! Isn’t that just like our Father? When He answers He always goes above and beyond and leaves us in total awe!

Some of us are still waiting on those requests to be fulfilled, but I’m confident they will be! Are you in the Lord’s waiting room? You’re in good company for other great men waited years after being given a promise by God. I think of Joseph and David…

BUT I want to encourage you, that when you are praying and setting your “too wonderful” requests before Him, you’ll remember The Lord’s words to Sarah:

God's Faithfulness

God's Faithfulness {Jeremiah 29}

So many people look at Jeremiah 29:11 as a demand for blessings from God.  But if we are honest with each other, you and I are unfaithful to Him.  Despite our unfaithfulness to Him – He is still faithful to us.  God is always at work in our lives.

Have you ever wondered why you have returned to a similar struggle?

·       Weight loss
·       Food & beverage choices
·       Financial decisions
·       Work/job environment
·       Marriage/relationship issues
·       Media exposure
·       Health for yourself or others

I have.  There are days I thought ‘whew, that’s over!’ only to be hit with the sudden sting of pain and suffering in the same circumstance.  Suddenly your bank account has dwindled, or someone has come to you with their frightening story of a lifestyle choice, or you’ve stepped on the scale and it’s much higher than you expected.  Or perhaps you keep waking up with some sort of physical pain.  Whatever the circumstance, God has brought you to it.

I can’t help but think of Daniel being thrown into the lion’s den.  Oh my – how frightening!  But he believed God was with him at all times, and God saved him from being lunch for the lion. (Daniel 6)

Or how about being thrown into a fiery furnace?  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego believed that God was always with them.  (Daniel 3)

I remember a very difficult circumstance and my response to it.  I’ve shared this before, but it seems appropriate again here.  When my husband fell 40 feet from a tree, I responded with, ‘I trust you Jesus.  I trust you Jesus.’  You know, Andy could have died that day.  He had a broken femur – In 4 places.  One was a compound fracture that punctured through his leg and caused him to lose a lot of blood.  He shattered his wrist and crushed his face.  He also broke his tibia and was unconscious for several minutes.

That’s just one of my own personal examples and I could share so many more.  But what God desires is our total surrender of every part of our lives.  We must rise above our circumstances that attempt to cause us to believe that God does not love or care about what you may be going through.  NOTHING is hopeless with God.

Have you been feeling hopeless, abandoned, depressed, rejected, disappointed by life’s circumstances?  There is hope for today for God’s Word declares that He knows the plans He has for you.

Ladies, regardless of what level of pain or suffering you may be experiencing at this time.  Perhaps it may be self-doing or God allowing it for a reason, there is a plan for your life.  God said it.  He is faithful.

We are reminded of God’s promise that He gave to Israel, which is also available to us too.

 Image result for jeremiah 29:13-14

That’s the key!  Total surrender of our lives to the Lord.

God does not want our superficial sacrifices and offerings (Hebrews 10:8-10).  God has a plan for your life – there’s purpose in the pain!

This is one of my favorite songs about God’s faithfulness.

One final thought.  70 years is a lifetime for a lot of people.  Living here on this side of heaven is like living in exile.  We are separated from God’s Kingdom – the Promised Land.  But we are promised to return there!  If only we seek God with our whole heart!

Wandering with Jesus,

Deuteronomy

The Faithful God {Deuteronomy 7}

12:44 AM

Monday March. 11,     Deuteronomy 7

Recently while driving to an appointment, I took a wrong turn and ended up in an unfamiliar part of the city. Caught in traffic, and headed the wrong way, as soon as I was able I pulled over to get my bearings and call my husband to share my predicament. After hearing my plight he asked, “Why didn’t you just follow the route the GPS gave you?” I meekly replied, “Because I thought my way was better.” As it turned out, that “better way” left me lost, stressed out, late for my appointment, and turned a thirty minute trip into one that took twice as long. That’s how it was with the Israelites. They had the ultimate, perfect GPS....God. Yet because they rebelled against His directions, an eleven day trip through the desert turned into a forty year journey through the wilderness. Now here in Deuteronomy, with God’s people finally entering the promised land, Moses stresses to Israel that they reached their destination not because of themselves, for they were faithless, but because of God, who remains faithful...always!

Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments.” (vs. 7:9) Why does Moses call God “the faithful God”? To be faithful is to to be steadfast, enduring, dependable, loyal, and trustworthy. Attributes God demonstrates perfectly. Despite their rebellion and unbelief, God stayed faithful to Israel. Remembering His promises to their forefathers, the Lord kept His covenant with His people, and remained steadfast in His love for them. Such is the wonderful nature of God. What He says, He does. “God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Num. 23:19). Never do we need doubt God, for His Word is true. And in a world where hurt and disappointment is plentiful, how comforting it is knowing that for a thousand generations, the Lord remains faithful to those who love and obey Him.

Everywhere I look I see the faithfulness of God. I see it in the needs He so generously meets. In the family and friends He blesses my life with. In the mercy and grace He patiently shows each day, and most of all in His never ending love. Such abundant devotion that He gives not because I love Him, but because He loves me. Moses reminded the Israelites that they were a precious people, handpicked by God to be His own. Chosen not for their greatness, but because of the Lord’s faithfulness and love. (vs. 7:6-8) And as a child of God and an heiress to His promises, I too can receive that same unmerited faithfulness. A faithfulness that turns my brokenness into healing, my condemnation into redemption, my bitterness into love, my bondage into freedom, my sin into righteousness, and my death into eternal life.

When troubles seem that all is lost
And no way can I see
I look to Jesus on the Cross
And know He died for me

In a world of disappointments
His love will never end
Great is Thy faithfulness
On Jesus I can depend

Lamentations 3:22,23 ~ Never Ceasing ~ God’s Faithfulness

12:00 AM

Saturday, March 9, 2019

Welcome to Scripture Saturday!

This coming week's memory verse is Lamentations 3:22,23...

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. (ESV)

What an amazing promise! God’s love never fails us and is endless.  Making a bad choice does not diminish or take away His mercy. It is there, just as sure as the sun rises in the morning.

He is faithful. Whatever He promises He will do. We can trust Him fully!  Even during the times in our lives that are most miserable, saddest, confusing…He is there! Just as Jeremiah utters these words, we can. He will ALWAYS come to the rescue and we can ALWAYS trust that it flows from His love for us!

Gods mercy and faithfulness surround you today. Notice! Be amazed! Worship and praise Him!  (based on iWorship devotion)

Have a blessed day and week everyone!

God's Faithfulness

God Longs For You {Hosea 11:1-14:9}

12:00 AM

Israel had turned away from the Lord. They rejected His love, choosing instead to chase after foreign gods and live in rebellion. To show the people how far they had fallen, God commanded the prophet Hosea to choose a prostitute and marry her. Hosea picked Gomer, who despite his love and faithfulness, continued in her adulterous ways. Hosea went throughout the land preaching that Israel was the same as a prostitute. As the beloved bride of God, they too, despite His love and faithfulness, continued in their adulterous ways.

To further prove His point, God instructed Hosea to perform an act of humility, done completely out of love. Upon returning home from sharing God’s message, Hosea found his wife selling herself to the highest bidder. Can you imagine the pain and shame Hosea felt? After all he had given Gomer, there she was eagerly seeking another. Regardless, and even though she didn’t deserve it, God told Hosea to go and bid for his wife; paying whatever it took to redeem her from harlotry.

This amazing example of selfless love is the same love God has for us. Even in our unfaithfulness, and at great personal cost, He sent His Son Jesus to redeem us from our harlotry. A gift we don’t deserve, can never earn, and one He offers freely to all who love Him. And what does He want in return? What God longs for most of all is a close intimate relationship with those that He calls His own.

He wants us to walk with Him in love, worship, and obedience. His love for us remains true and everlasting. Even when we are unfaithful, when we reject Him, God never rejects us. He waits patiently until that time, when in repentance, we run back to His loving, and forgiving arms. Even through Israel’s sin and exile God yearned for restoration with His people. “How can I give you up O Ephraim? How can I surrender you O Israel? ...My heart is turned over with in Me, all My compassions are kindled.” (vs. 11:8) “Return to your God, observe kindness and justice, and wait for your God continually.” (vs. 12:6)

The book of Hosea is a love letter from God to His people. In it He shows His abundant grace; loving and caring for us even when we don’t love Him in return. And just as Hosea took back his unfaithful wife, God is always willing to forgive and restore his unfaithful people. We may turn our backs on Him, but the Lord will never stop graciously calling us, His beloveds, back to Himself! “Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love” (Joel 2:13)

On The Throne (Psalms 9-12)

3:24 AM

Life is not fair!  In fact, it may often seem that the wicked prosper while Christians suffer. In these Psalms, however, David teaches us to not lose sight of the bigger picture.  He wants us to remember that no matter how perplexing circumstances may seem in the moment, God is still on His throne and justice will prevail.
“But the Lord sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice, and he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness.”
(Psalms 9:7-8)

When you observe the world around you, it appears that most people ignore God and do not believe there will be any consequences for their sin. But God has not forgotten them and He will hold them accountable for their actions and choices in this life.
“The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.”
(Psalms 11:4)

We are being tested by the Lord.  He is looking for the heart who trusts in Him, seeks relationship with Him and chooses to live a life that glorifies Him. He looks for the heart that trusts Him even when life is unfair and oppressive.
“The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”
(Psalms 9:9-10 )

David encourages us to stay focused on God and His righteousness.  What does God desire from us?   Devotion, dedication and celebration with our whole heart.
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.”
(Psalms 9:1-2 )
David also encourages us to pray and assures us that God listens.
“O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear” (Psalms 10:17)

Life is not fair but God is righteous and fair. We are encouraged to trust in Him and wait patiently for His interventions.
“For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.”(Psalms 9:18)

"The needy, and the poor, whose expectation is from the Lord, are never forgotten, though sometimes their deliverance is delayed for the greater confusion of their enemies, the greater manifestation of God's mercy, and the greater benefit to themselves." (Clarke)

God is sovereign.  Even though life does not seem fair, we have to remember that He rules over all and He will work ALL things for good.  He loves us and He watches over us.  He cares about all of our trials, hardships and the unfairness of life that we have to endure. He promises to be with us and He listens when we call to Him. He will strengthen us in adversity.  He will watch over us in the dark valleys.  He will guide us and teach us.  He will rule over this world and a day will come when sin and the unfairness that it causes will be no more.
