Happy Easter Weekend everyone! Welcome to Scripture Saturday!  For today, I couldn't help but choose these verses in John as we continue our memorization… verses 3:16 and 17…

“I am the resurrection and the life,” Jesus said, “Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die” (John 11:25–26).
Have a precious and blessed day and Easter everyone!

Jesus reveals to Nicodemus about God’s love, why He came to earth, and how we can have eternal life. Jesus speaks of God’s love for all.  He tells Nicodemus that God’s love reaches out to everyone and He desires to reach all the lost.

Earlier in chapter 3, notice that Jesus didn’t tell Nicodemus to become more religious in order to go to heaven. Neither did He tell him to give more money or do more good deeds. He tells Nicodemus that unless he is “born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God” (v.5). He told Nicodemus that eternal life is based upon what Jesus will do and did for us. Jesus tells Nicodemus that those who believe in Him will have eternal life. So what did Jesus mean by “believe” ? The Greek word, which is used by John, for believe (pisteuo) means more than just agreeing.  It means commit to, put trust in. So the word “believes” in these verses means to personally commit to and trust in Jesus Christ.

He will not force us to commit to and trust him. We have the choice to accept or reject Jesus. Yet He encourages each of us to accept His free offer of eternal life.  And because it is the life of the Son of God, it lasts forever.

“I am the resurrection and the life,” Jesus said, “Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die” (John 11:25–26).

Have a precious and blessed day and Easter everyone!
