Our reading this week was Psalm 141 - Proverbs 9...
1. What tends to weigh you down and trip you up? When, specifically, did you sense God helping you up or lifting your load? What burden can you put into the LORD’s hands today, trusting Him or the outcome?
The LORD helps the fallen and lifts up those bent beneath their loads. (Psalm 145:14)
2. Think of a sunrise you watched. Compare the way God’s light dispels the darkness of sin with the way the sun illumines the earth. Write a prayer of illumination, mentioning specific areas in your life where you need God’s light to shine.
The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. (Proverbs 4:18)
3. How is the fear of God different from the strong negative emotion associated with other fears? In what ways does your knowledge of God affect your fears? Today, claim freedom from your own personal fears as you worship the Holy One.
Fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in understanding. (Proverbs 9:10)
