Welcome to Scripture Saturday!
Our verse for this week is Acts 12:12..."...He went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying."
Let's take a moment and place this verse in context:
- It was a difficult time of persecution for the church.
- Mary, the mother of John Mark, still welcomed the church into her home at great personal risk.
- Peter just escaped imprisonment and his imminent execution by Herod, begin rescued by an angel of the Lord.
- Peter arrived at Mary's home. There he found those that he loved, and loved him, praying for his deliverance from danger.
Imagine that! Those that you love, gathered together and praying for you. And you arrive unharmed and safe! The power of prayer!!!
As we study Mary, the mother of John Mark, we will see the commitment Mary had for this early church. We will see her willingness to sacrifice herself for others and for the sake of the Gospel.
May we all be women in the mold of Mary. Prayer warriors. Safe havens for those we love. Opening our homes to those that are in need. Women boldly proclaiming our faith in Jesus and His saving grace!
Have a blessed week everyone!
