A song in your heart!
Your heart can be filled with joy and your mouth
can shout out His praises, because He has been so good to us.
I will sing to the Lord because He has been so good to me. 13:6
In chapter 15 we see choices that we can make to worship Him.
Do what is right
Speak the truth from sincere hearts
Refuse to slander others or harm our neighbors or speak evil of our friends
Despise persistent sinners
Honor the faithful followers of the Lord
Keep our promises even when it hurts
Not charge interest on the money we lend
Refuse to accept bribes to testify against the innocent
A good check list when you do not have a song in your heart.
Those who choose to do these things will stand firm forever.
I believe that David chose to do these things.
They are choices that we have to make every day.
Psalm16 almost reads to me like a song in David's heart.
These are the things that David knew about his God.
* his safety and refuge was in God
* He knew who his Master was
* took pleasure in those who are Godly
* would not take part in those who went after other gods
* the Lord was his inheritance
* knew who guided him and instructed him
* that the Lord was always with him
*Will show him the way of life
* Granting him the joy of His presence
* the pleasures of living with Him forever.
Like David we make choices everyday to worship our Lord.
We have the same inheritance in the Lord that David did.
We have so much to be thankful for!
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. Heb. 12: 1-3
Keep your eyes on Jesus!
No wonder my heart is filled with joy, and my mouth shouts His praises! 16:9
