Scripture Saturday ~ Hiding God’s Word in Your Heart

By Sandra Wyatt

Welcome to Scripture Saturday! Today we continue our memorization of verses found in Luke with verses 6:46…

Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?

Before I share with you what I read in Kay Arthur’s book, LORD, I Want to Know You, I would like to remind you that when the word “Lord” is used in the bible with a capital “L” and lower case “ord” it translates as “Adonai, Lord, Master”. If the the word “LORD” is in all capital letters then it translates as Jehovah, God.

“Lord is more than a word; it indicates a relationship. The lordship of God means His total possession of us and our total submission to Him as Lord and Master…Our Lord - our Adonai - is Jehovah, YHWH. As Jehovah He is to be obeyed. He is God; we are human. He is the Creator; we are the created. Therefore, every knee should bow…”(p.42, 49)

Jesus is our Lord, we proclaim that He is Adonai…Jesus is God, one with the Father. And as God, He is Adonai, Lord, Master.

“Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.” (Luke 6:47-48)

Have a precious and blessed day everyone!
